POSITION PURPOSE: The Blueberry/Blackberry Development Manager
(“Berry Manager”) performs the vital function of developing the company’s
blueberry and blackberry production programs in a manner that is technically
innovative; economically successful; and strategically oriented.
JOB SUMMARY: The Berry Manager will assist The company’s global blueberry and
blackberry grower base with the agronomic knowledge needed to rapidly and
continuously advance successful commercial production practices. The Berry
Manager will advise and coordinate with the research department in the discovery
and development of production innovations. The Berry Manager will assist
in the sourcing and development of new growers; will provide production and
economic analysis to the grower base; and will participate in the long-term
planning of blueberry and blackberry production programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. or M.S. degree in an appropriate agronomic field required.
Minimum 5 years experience in production agriculture required.
Direct blueberry and/or blackberry crop or research experience a plus.
Understanding of agricultural financial and economic measurements a plus.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
SKILLS:
Good observational and analytical abilities.
Proficient with common computer software (MS Office).
Self-starter; ability to work independently as well as with growers, team members and management.
Detail oriented, with effective verbal, writing and presentation skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Agronomic support: Advise growers on the latest and best
current production practices from within the organizations, as well as from
university and other outside industry resources.
Research: Advise the group on specific projects to further
explore and advance knowledge and innovations that deliver competitive
advantage.
Planning: Assist in the development of long-term production
plans, as well as crop budgeting and forecasting.
Reporting: Assist in the development and delivery of
comparative production and financial crop reporting. Prepare and deliver
summary results and informational presentations to growers.
Plant procurement: Identify best varieties for each region,
according to the objectives of the business plans; manage the procurement and
delivery process.
Other: Travel required between various districts; industry
conferences; etc.
