Our client is seeking an experienced General Manager for their operation in the Midwest.  The successful candidate will a media information business professional with a track record of success, well-honed management skills, and strategic acumen, to provide hands-on leadership to a data-driven print and internet-based media business serving the agriculture market.  Responsible for operation with oversight of content creation, data collection/storage advertising sales, marketing and promotion, paid circulation growth, and development of Internet-based offerings.  Establish the strategic and operational plans for growth of 2 key brands which will further capitalize on the power of the brands’ history, invigorate sales, and refocus the business for growth.  This position will report to the Vice President/Publishing Director.

Attributes / Experience:

• Prior success in leading a media information and/or data-based business.

• Up-to-date knowledge of data-centric publishing models and trend in the media industry, including a strong conceptual understanding of the impact of new technologies and distribution platforms on the top and bottom line.

• A strong customer orientation that lends itself to the ability to assess and identify customer trends and to creatively address customer challenges with new product and services.

• Ability to articulate the function and unique benefits of the offerings to a wide customer universe championing growth on a consistent and continuing basis.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a management style that fosters innovation and sales growth.

• A hard-working, results-driven, and focused executive with recognized team building skills and a lead-by-example management style.

• A background that include solid P&L management abilities.

• Excellent written and oral skills as well as strong presentation abilities.

• Unassailable ethics and a high degree of professionalism in all aspect of conduct.

• Prior agricultural experience at some level is helpful but not required.

• BA/BS required; MBA or graduate degree preferred.
