Our client, a leading importer and distributor of fresh produce in San Joaquin Valley, California is currently seeking a Quality Controller at Source.

Job Description:

• Work with the grape & citrus supply base at source.

• Oversee the packing of fruit destined for company throughout the season.

• Print labels for fruit packed at source for delivery to our direct customers.

• Set and uphold the client quality standards during packing and complete label and quality check sheets.

• Monitor our program’s vs. loading plan at source.

• Understand and communicate any potential shortfalls or surplus in availability (volume and/or sizes) to our team.

• Give feedback to the team over potential quality issues prior to fruit departure.

• Provide regular crop, packing, maturity and weather (as well as physical movements) updates via daily/weekly reports.

• Provide team with information about any potential new varieties and arrange samples. (Long Term Objective of position)

• Co-ordinate any trials e.g. pre-packing at source, post harvest trials etc. (Long Term Objective of position)

• Assist in the preparation for customer visits i.e. “map out the visit route”, communicate the visit preparation document, provide advice to the team. (Long Term Objective of position)

• Understand the strategy and activity of our US competitors. (Long Term Objective of position)

• Create rapport and good working relationships with growers and be a good ambassador for our company. (Long Term Objective of position)

Knowledge & Experience:

• Previous experience in a Quality Control role is beneficial.  (experience within the fruit industry would be an advantage)

• Experience within a production environment.

• Experience printing labels is beneficial.

Skills:

• Excellent communication skills.

• Speaking Spanish is highly recommended.

• Microsoft office skills are essential including Excel & Word.

• Good numerical and literacy skills.

• Good accuracy & attention to detail.

• Good planning & organizational skills.

• Good problem solving skills.

• Ability to make quick/correct decisions.

• Prepared to see the job through to the end.

• Strong ability to coordinate with packing and facility staff.

• US driving license.
