Position: Shipping Manager (Exempt)
Reports to: Director of Warehouse Operations
Location: San Juan Bautista, CA/Yuma, AZ
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Shipping Manager provides professional customer service to internal and external customers by executing tasks, measurements and shipments on a timely matter. Oversees all Distribution operation at night.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Warehouse Director in establishing processes and procedures for shipping department.
Maintain customer service for all customers with courtesy and professionalism at all times.
Must make sure that all shipments are correct and address any issues immediately.
Weekly safety training for all Shipping personnel.
Maintain a safe working environment by assuring that all safety features are present inside / outside the warehouse.
Reduce cost while keeping customer service for all customers.
Must be able to oversee all Distribution operation at night.
Maintain a properly rotated warehouse (FIFO)
Help in implementations of new process/software (ex. warehousing, red line)
Maintain budgeted head count.
Must be able to maintain an optimal slotted warehouse.
Maintain a high level of scanned items to location within the warehouse.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
College or University Degree Required
5 years of experience in planning, inventory and warehouse logistics.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Very High Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Candidate must be highly organized and detail oriented.
- Candidate must be team oriented and also able to work independently. Self-starter.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Bilingual. Able to speak, read and write in Spanish.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), web-based applications.
