Foothill Packing is a customer harvester – agricultural
support company working in the Southwest dessert area of Arizona and
throughout the state of California. Foothill is currently seeking a
person with the interest, right attitude and work ethic for the
position of Dispatcher/Fleet Manager
This position is
responsible for overall management of the Company’s fleet operations
(buses and trucks/trailers). Oversight of State and Federal
compliance and company policy as related to the fleet.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Field
-
Recruit, train, and
develop commercial truck and bus drivers.

Work with Area
Managers and Supervisors to insure that transportation and
equipment are being run in the most effective manner, make
recommendations to Harvest Managers and Area Managers as needed.

Monitor and provide
solutions for keeping drivers in compliance with hours of duty.

Monitor the movement
of equipment during transition insuring that it is in the proper
location as needed and is moved in compliance with CALTRANS or
local highway authorities.

Coordinate with Area
Managers on the need for third party vendors for use of rental
equipment.

Assist Safety
Managers when need in general training.
Administration
-
Insure that the
Company, in all locations, is 100% in compliance with State and
Federal laws

Assist and oversee a
comprehensive program to comply with DOT and California BIT
programs
-
Work and assist area
offices and shop personnel so that DOT and BIT program
documentation is being done correctly
-
Assist area offices
in monitoring DMV and regulatory paper work for vehicles
QUALIFICATIONS
Understanding of DOT and State transportation laws, 5 years
experience with machinery, trucks, buses and diesel equipment;
Computer literate in Microsoft office, i.e. Word, Excel; ability to
establish and maintain effective work relationships with those
contacted in the performance of required duties.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A mechanical engineering background is a plus. Five (5) minimum
years of experience with emphasis in agricultural; or an equivalent
combination of experience (10 years), education, and training that
would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the
position.
LICENSE
Valid Class A or B driver’s license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Bilingual/bi-literate in English/Spanish

Basic high school/college
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Relocation with
season Yuma, AZ and Salinas, CA

Driving for long
periods.

Outside work
requiring walking and standing in fields in all weather
conditions.

Light to moderate
lifting (up to 60 pounds).

Reaching, stooping,
pulling, pushing and manual dexterity.

Operation of
mechanical equipment.

Operating a
computer, calculator, copier and typewriter involves repetitive
hand arm movement.

Entering data by
touch requires the ability to hear computer alarms for errors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to handle multi-tasks and work in a fast paced
environment with frequent interruptions. Must be able to deal
politely with outside vendors. Communication with other staff
members involves making contact orally via the telephone or in
person.
