JOB SUMMARY:

These positions support the Ranch Manager to perform the vital function of developing and operating the farming operations in a manner that is economically successful, strategically oriented, and technically innovative.   Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, these positions will be responsible to assist in the planning, directing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of the day to day agricultural operations and proactively drive efforts to continually achieve good yields of top quality crops in a safe and efficient manner for the least possible cost. 

ESSENTIAL DUITES & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Ranch Manager and all farming operations.
  • Assist with evaluating current farming practices and make recommendations based on the results of the evaluation.
  • Oversee quality for all commodities to ensure crops quality specifications are being met.
  • Ensure crop rotations and timing practices are cost efficient and lead to the best utilization of ranches.
  • Physically inspect the growing progress of all commodities in order to assist in making sound and accurate farming decisions. Seek and incorporate new technologies and capabilities into daily operations to improve growing operations
  • Oversee pest control program to ensure crop health and provide analysis to Production Team to ensure spray applications eliminate pests.
  • Inform Ranch Manager regarding farm conditions, crop yields, machinery breakdowns, or labor problems.
  • Implement recommendations from the Production Department to maximize desired soil conditions to determined crop-acre allocations.
  • Submit usage reports (fertilizer, spray, seed, and labor) and determine improvements and efficiencies.
  • Under the direction of the Ranch Manager supervise the planting program (seed/transplant), with responsibilities of overseeing the planning, planting, growing, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and equipment maintenance.
  • Incorporate new technologies and capabilities into daily operations in order to work successfully in an efficient, safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Ag related) or 4 years of farm related experience
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and take initiative
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record where applicable
  • Respectfully interacts with people of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Bilingual, English-Spanish preferred
