Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Working closely with operational, accounting and finance personnel, the Senior Accountant will have significant responsibility for ensuring accuracy of the inventories recorded in our operational and financial systems and financial statements and analyzing and reporting profitability of our products. Accountant will assist in the month-end closing process and the preparation of financial statements and analyses. The job scope also includes other aspects of accounting and work on a variety of projects as directed. Must be a willing participant with a positive attitude to handle any task given no matter how big or small.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), procedures and application.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries to support monthly close.
  • Prepare selected balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Review costs for labor, material and overhead; establish and periodically update standard costs for all products; ensure they are up to date.
  • Analyze gross margins for products/product categories and respond to questions about financial performance.
  • Respond to questions about expenses, trends, and deviations from budgets/forecasts.
  • Assist in preparing information for outside auditors.
  • Assist in other areas in Finance/Accounting as needed.
  • Review of financial reports to ensure the accuracy and clarity of the information presented.
  • Research inventory discrepancies, determine cause, recommend necessary adjustments and make inventory adjustments.
  • Assist with the accurate reconciliation and posting of all Quarterly and Annual Payroll Tax returns for all entities.
  • Organize and manage all physical inventories for monthly, quarterly and yearly audits.
  • Perform special projects, and additional assignments, as assigned, to support the department
  • Participate in cross training efforts that support personal development and provide departmental coverage.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting preferred or 5-10 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Excellent MS Office Suite skills and intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish/English, preferred
  • Knowledge of Famous Software, a major plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Approximately 95% of time performing job will be in an indoor office environment with most of that time spent sitting at a desk working in front of a computer monitor.
  • High use of communication either through telephone of one on one communication
  • Noise level in the office is low with temperature levels between 65-80 degrees
  • May be required to go to remote office/warehouse/retail locations to assist with inventory counts and processes
  • Maybe required to lift up to 10 lbs. Bending, stooping, reaching all a probability
