About The Role: The Nursery Engineering Coordinator will work closely with the Nursery department and provide engineering expertise related to irrigation and fertigation systems, electrical components, controlled environments and other systems related to the cultivation of cannabis for CCA. This person will assist in the development of new and improved processes while also ensuring the continued operation and success of current systems and processes. What You Will Do: Assist the Cultivation Engineer Manager with keeping nursery operations running for CCA Perform in-field nursery irrigation management - Take soil samples, monitor soil moisture levels via hand and using soil monitoring software, perform DU test, suggest & make irrigation scheduling changes based on field data and plant health. Ensure the proper function of all nursery irrigation and fertigation equipment. Perform preventative maintenance & troubleshooting on nursery equipment (pumps, filters, VFDs, controllers, nutrient injection units, pressure reducing/sustaining valves, PVC, drip tape, greenhouse equipment, etc.). Collect and evaluate data from weather stations and sensors. Develop improvements and system upgrades. Compile nutrient and irrigation data for Nitrogen use tracking. Assist with the design and implementation of automation for nursery processes (seeding, cloning, spraying, etc.). Assist with the design, implementation and improvement of nursery activities and processes. Assist nursery crew in planting, cloning, maintaining, harvesting, and processing Cannabis as needed. Communicate technical information to suppliers, contractors, or regulatory agencies. Discuss plans, quotes, PO, etc. with clients, contractors, consultants, vendors and other engineers. Test nursery machinery and equipment to ensure adequate performance; work with other personnel to resolve design or operational problems. Train personnel on proper operational procedures by developing SOPs. Perform experiments (or trials) to improve the overall efficiency of the nursery crop production. Maintain inventory of engineering tools and supplies. Supports the overall success of Central Coast Agriculture by performing all other duties as assigned. Perform all functions safely following prescribed rules and protocol. (Required) Working knowledge of nursery practices, irrigation concepts and systems, and acceptable mechanical ability. (Required) Valid CA Driver’s license (Required) Must be 21 years of age (or older) at the time of hire. (Required) Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel), Google's G-Suite, CAD, etc. (Required) Functional knowledge of California cannabis regulations.
