Job description


The Director of Value Added Sales  is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a sales strategy to aggressively grow the value added business. The individual will be responsible for developing strategies that support customer goals while achieving company sales targets and financial expectations. In addition, this position will lead the key account planning cycle and ensure customer expectations are achieved or exceeded.


  • Establish and cultivate professional relationships with key personnel for both the retail and wholesale channels in the U.S. and Canada;
  • Work closely with customers and brokers to provide forecasts on account volume and trends related to seasonal promotions;
  • Accurately forecast volume and revenue growth;
  • Increase revenue with existing accounts and pursue new business development opportunities;
  • Meets or exceeds budgeted volume and profitability;
  • Make pricing, negotiation and service decisions as the primary contact for all Value Added customers;
  • Coordinates the engagement of company personnel, including headquarter support, contracted services, and management resources, to achieve performance objectives and customer satisfaction;
  • Cooperates with accounting department to assure prompt collection of assigned account receivables; monitors and calls on invoices over twenty-one (21) days outstanding, responsible for all adjustments on invoices within thirty (30) days, follow up on all deductions within thirty (30) days of shipment;
  • Maintain good working relationships with customers, receivers, employees, peers and supervisors including problem solving;
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advances;
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field is required;
  • Minimum 10 years of strategic sales experience in a business to business environment (preferably, produce sales);
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion with minimal supervision;
  • Consistently meet deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Must be goal oriented and self-motivated;
  • Must be a high-performance team player and be willing to work in a dynamic, growing, demanding and fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, customers and peers;
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Windows operating system, Famous software;
  • Possess strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and decision making;
  • Proficient in understanding and presenting category date via IRI or Nielsen;
  • Ability to develop and present budgets for the Value Added business, analyzing current and future performance;
  • Frequent travel will be required 30-50%, including regular overnight stays.
