Job description

Manages internal sales department. Compile and analyze yearly sales by commodity/customer. Collect feedback from Customers and sales staff (needs, concerns, and etc.). Create reports for sales meeting or presentations for group meetings. Quote ad prices to customers to promote commodities/growers. Attend meeting conferences, and trade shows (as needed). Responsible for setting up weekly goals. Ensure customer satisfaction by resolving customer concerns and problems in timely manner.

Duties &  Responsibilities

  • Process all order w/Pro Pack and send confirmations
  • New accounts (credit app./check credit reference Blue Book & Red Book
  • Promote ads and research market prices and quantities from previous years
  • Set up price list weekly and offer weekly specials or promotions as needed.
  • Set weekly pricing for Alberts Monday & Wednesday
  • Take incoming and make outgoing sales calls, emails and etc.
  • Monitor market (last year’s price/market demand/volume/USDA Market Report
  • Update customers phone’s/fax/e-mail as needed
  • Move all juice weekly or as needed (Alma does this too)
  • Read weekly news letters-Red Book, Blue Book, and Organic News Letter (updates change to the industries).
  • Every Monday review last year’s sale with current sales & set weekly goals
  • Collaborate with production, operations, and field to develop daily run down of work load for each day
  • Fridays set up pricing for JBJ & Marano for next week’s sales
  • Make cold calls as time permits
  • Assist in other duties as assigned

 Growers Responsibilities & Duties

  • Create payment advices on small growers (gubler, hannum, and etc.)
  • Harvest schedule meeting every Wed./Thur. W/Jose & Kelly
  • Work w/Jose when he needs pricing for growers
  • Create reports of commodities per year as needed

 Accounting Responsibilities & Duties

  • Approve credits by the end of each week for Mariela
  • Meet with Maya, Alma, Mariela weekly to review aging
  • Approve end of the Month inventory report (Alma works this up)
  • A/R when Mariela needs sales enforcement
  • Sign all checks as needed (when Bill not available)
  • Do wire transfers when needed (when Maya not available


  • 3 – 5 or more years of sale experience in produce sales
  • Self-motivated team player with demonstrated success in building sales
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to learn our system and work on the computer to do special pricing or input special orders, as needed
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and capable of making “cold calls, as needed
  • Great selling and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership ability
  • Forecasting and planning
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a strong plus
  • Decent PC skills and ability to learn computer systems
  • Analytical strong attention to detail
  • Cultural fit
  • Experience with accounting system (Famous  is a plus)
  • Proficiency with Excel

  • College Degree in Business, Sales or equivalent preferred
  • Combination of education and experience may be accepted.

Working conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside in an office environment for the majority of the workday and very little outside work which may include the packing shed
  • Required to follow General Food Safety Program to prevent cross contamination of produce.
  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special program events.
