Job description

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for the Inspection of all inbound, and in house produce to ensure quality  of produce including acceptable temperatures, product conditions, product quality, and product sizing per USDA and/or Company imposed specifications. 

Responsibilities:

  • Product inspection and reporting of findings on inbound, in house, and outbound produce.
  • Verify quality of in stock perishables to include daily inspection of product in pick location.
  • Removal of product that does not meet Company standards.
  • Ensure inventory correctly represents product counts.
  • Manage sorting out of grade product for suitable resale.
  • Manage product rotation in pick slots.
  • Verify and approve all code dated product(s).
  • Inspect product returned to warehouse facility.
  • Determine the quality, condition, and acceptable shelf life of all product.
  • Collect and report temperature and other HACCP information from refrigerated areas to the Compliance Manager.
  • Report issues that affect the integrity of the HACCP Program to the Compliance Manager.
  • Additional duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years USDA Inspection experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a produce related position.
  • Expertise in food safety practices and working knowledge of produce
  • Flexibility to work schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to supervise a diverse workforce
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Food safety and sanitation knowledge
  • Ability to display initiative and work with limited supervision.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and skills; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of job including standing during scheduled hours, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, lifting items of usually 5 -60 pounds. 
  • Pallet jack experience preferred.
