Spring Mix FOREMAN Job description: 

Duties Include:

  • Responsible for food safety compliance and documentation.
  • Responsible for Safety of employees. Enforcing safety rules. Conduct and participate in safety trainings.
  • Responsible for effective/efficient daily operations. Including, setups and change overs.
  • Responsible for implementing and adopting continuous improvement in food safety, safety, product quality, operations, hiring, training, equipment, tools, and areas designated by company.
  • Accurate record keeping (ie: timecards, checklists, equipment repairs, follow ups, employee work status reports, employee investigations, harvest reports, employee warnings, employee documentation, and any other records implemented in the future. Additionally, the timeliness of such documents, by established deadlines.
  • Ensure all vehicles, machinery and tools are available to crew and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance. Including supplies, etc.
  • Ensure proper storage and inventory of equipment and tools.
  • Perform product inspections, packaging, safety equipment; food safety inspections, etc.. for compliance in all categories.
  • Responsible for communicating any issues, challenges, or foreseen problems out of their scope of influence to direct supervisor. With a mentality to benefit the company’s best interest.


  • Must have 3+ years experience directing and supervising employees.
  • Experience with Spmx/Spinach operations and harvest.
  • Knowledge of harvest machines (Valley Fab; Ortomec; Ramsay; etc.)
  • Ability to supervise and direct a group of 13+ employees. Guide employees on daily tasks. Handle creation of job duties and delegation.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with employees, colleagues, upper management, vendors, but not limited to customers.
  • Must be able to handle/address confidential information and/or sensitive topics, as such.
  • Handle onsite incidents and emergencies in proactive/responsive manner.
  • Ability to implement accountability and development in direct crew, in a consistent and professional manner.
  • Able to follow, implement, enforce and follow company policies, procedures, state/fed regulations.
  • Must be able to identify and solve employee problems. Manage conflict in a calm professional manner.
  • Ability to work long hrs, be flexible, adapt to changes, work on a fast paced environment, work in a team oriented mentality, able to communicate and conduct him/her self professionally (with vendors, customers, employees, co-workers, and upper management), able to conduct training sessions.
  • Must be organized and ethical, while promoting a non-discriminatory and safe work environment.
  • Must follow and encourage flow of chain of command. Follow management structure.
  • Able to follow/execute orders from upper management.
  • Must be responsible, punctual, self driven, trustworthy, and reliable.
  • Must have valid and insurable drivers license.
  • Work schedule is 6 days a week.
  • Must be able to travel in the winter months to Huron CA and Holtville CA (October-April)
  • Must be able to work nights, if applicable.
  • Ability to perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Bilingual recommended (must be able to communicate with crew and direct supervisor)
