Job description

Leads harvest operations activities and coordination/transport of equipment; crop monitoring and accurate recordkeeping regarding quality, yield and harvest dates; coordinating trucking of raw material to Turlock plant for processing. Duties include operating farm equipment such as tractors, forklifts, trucks, implements, and specialty harvesters throughout our harvest season and in preparation for the coming harvest year.  Must also be able to perform basic mechanical repairs on equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Leads harvest operation and field equipment in fields throughout growing area.
  • Harvest crops according to raw material specifications and standards.
  • Coordinate trucking of raw material, including interface with plant to coordinate deliveries.
  • Monitor crops for growth and quality, estimate harvest dates and crop yields, keep accurate records
  • Operate vehicles and farm machinery to perform harvest activities in various growing fields within California (valid driver’s license required).
  • Perform basic repairs to farm equipment.
  • Coordinate and comply with preventive maintenance programs.
  • Understand and comply with all federal and state safety requirements and quality control standards established by the Company.
  • Assist in field mapping and performing field inspections/audits.
  • Assist in planting plans and tracking seed inventories/storage.
  • Implement and monitor safety requirements established by the Company and regulatory agencies.
  • Extensive travel is required to various growing locations within California.
  • Requires frequent start time of 2:00 a.m. during seasonal harvest periods of the year.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent education
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years related farm equipment experience & general knowledge of farming and mechanics
  • Previous experience in leading field harvest activities
  • Ability to understand conversational English
  • Ability to travel to fields within the growing area
  • Must be able to consistently work early morning hours, long days and some weekends frequently during the season.
