Job description

Position Title: Senior Maintenance and Facilities Manager.

Reports to: Automated Harvesting General Manager

Basic Functions: The Maintenance and Facilities Manager will be responsible for the overall management, direction, and leadership of the AH Maintenance/Facilities department and is accountable for project management, budgeting, capital expenditures, repair and maintenance expenditures, EHS, continuous improvement, overseeing compliance with audit requirements, and development of staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

  • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities.
  • Maintain maintenance records and PM scheduling for all AH equipment
  • Ensure department compliance with all company policies, laws, and regulations (including food safety and OSHA requirements)
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for and technical work performed in the department.
  • Manage mechanics and shop personnel, delegating tasks that best support operations.
  • Provide direct staff supervision to the maintenance services team incorporating continuous improvement methods to efficiently support maintenance production and daily operations.
  • Ensure proper and efficient protocols are developed and utilized to plan and coordinate daily, weekly, monthly, and unscheduled on-demand maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the development of all budgets, forecasts, projections, and reports related to maintenance operations needed to track performance metrics and meet performance goals.
  • Aid in the development of training programs for assigned personnel and ensure that personnel in the maintenance organization are properly trained.
  • Provide direction and supervision to assigned staff, staff scheduling, training, coaching, time and attendance management and performance management; establishes preventive maintenance programs; maintains inventory of parts and supplies; maintains records on time and materials used.
  • Develop and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements
  • Plan and manage facility central services such as reception, security, cleaning, catering, waste disposal and parking
  • Generate and present regular reports and reviews of facility-related budgets, finances, contracts, expenditures and purchases
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience with agricultural equipment
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) required.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of effective performance management, supervision, evaluation and development of employees.
  • Working knowledge of automotive, heavy equipment, heavy duty trucks, small engine portable equipment and tools and equipment involved with their repair; engines, transmissions, drive train, lubrication systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, emission systems, computerized diagnostic systems, tires, welding, fabrication, operation of welding fabricating tools and equipment.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills, with ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of techniques and methods used in long term service planning and operations scheduling.
  • Flexibility to work 7 days a week and long hours when needed.
  • Must be able to walk through a vegetable field on uneven surfaces, climb up and down noisy harvesting equipment, and use both hands to perform various tasks and be willing to do so in inclement weather conditions (including wind, dust, rain, heat, cold)
  • Ability to travel to relocate from Salinas to Yuma and /or Oxnard for the winter season.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in use of computer systems, including Microsoft Suite (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
