Job description

Pete Pappas & Sons, Inc. is a fourth generation owned and operated re-packer and wholesaler of fresh fruit and vegetables, specializing in tomatoes and strawberries. We are looking for a Production Supervisor to assist the Manager with production needs. The Production Supervisor will ensure that the production lines and employees operate safely and efficiently to the specific needs of our customers.


Monday - Saturday: 7am - 4pm, or until the shift is complete

Off Sunday and every other Monday


  • Supervise production employees in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the shift activity to include: delivery/pick-up assignments, filling slots, production employee training, employee breaks and odd-shift assignments.
  • Monitor production needs through Famous software and communicate with manager throughout the day.
  • Monitor production output throughout the shift for efficiency and ensure that shipping receives communication to make on time pick-up and delivery.
  • Coordinate product needs with the Warehouse and Production Manager.
  • Oversee proper labeling, consolidation and usage of setbacks.
  • Inspect all outgoing orders for quality, quantity and inventory accuracy (proper pallet tags).
  • Responsible for staffing the production lines, flow of the lines, timely changeovers and completing orders in time based off of OTR dispatch sheet posted times.
  • Assist in the organization of the Coolers and Production Floor, including box storage and inventory levels.
  • Attend the morning and afternoon production meetings and provide Production Status Report at the 3pm meeting.
  • Prepare the Complete Daily Production Plan in time with the Manager who assigns rotation and Lots to be used (after 3pm Production meeting).
  • Ensure Data Entry employee distributes required reports prior to shift end.
  • Display ability to work effectively in Famous software, MS Outlook and Excel, and make tags in order to train Line Leads to perform as well.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to include compliance with food safety and HACCP program requirements.
  • Display effective communication skills to all departments and employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of produce grading and quality standards. This is normally acquired through two (2) to five (5) years of produce experience.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient with the Windows Office suite: Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Comfortable learning new software
  • Ability to operate a rider pallet jack
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred but not required.


Working conditions include warm rooms and cooler areas in the 52 to 55 degree range. Work involves lifting of materials and product weighing up to 50 pounds.
