Job description

Reports to the Controller and is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting in the month end close process from journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and Financial Statement preparation. Assist in the Inventory management of raw product, packaging and finished goods. Cross trained in all accounting functions to assist during peak times or absence of staff. Must be a willing participant with a positive attitude to handle any task given no matter how big or small.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), procedures and application.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries to support monthly close.
  • Prepare selected balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Review of financial reports to ensure the accuracy and clarity of the information presented.
  • Research inventory discrepancies, determine cause, recommend necessary adjustments and make inventory adjustments.
  • Assist with the accurate reconciliation and posting of all Quarterly and Annual Payroll Tax returns for all entities.
  • Organize and manage all physical inventories for monthly, quarterly and yearly audits.
  • Perform special projects, and additional assignments, as assigned, to support the department
  • Participate in cross training efforts that support personal development and provide departmental coverage.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-3 years experience as a Staff Accountant or greater
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Excellent MS Office Suite skills and intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish/English, a plus
  • Knowledge of Famous Software required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Approximately 95% of time performing job will be in an indoor office environment with the majority of that time spent sitting at a desk working in front of a computer monitor
  • High use of communication either through telephone of one on one communication
  • Noise level in the office is low with temperature levels between 65-80 degrees
  • May be required to go to remote office/warehouse/retail locations to assist with inventory counts and processes
  • Maybe required to lift up to 10 lbs. Bending, stooping, reaching all a probability
