JOB SUMMARY:

The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sales plans and marketing opportunities.  Manage the sales staff, administrative staff and transportation staff.  Act as a public relations interface with customers, consumers, and the media, in conjunction with the VP.  This position works closely with all Company departments including the groves, operations, accounting, executive management, and reports directly to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play a pro-active role in cultivating a culture that ensures individual performance levels and team performance for the greater good of the Company, our suppliers and customers.
  • Help create and maintain a “Team” environment by utilizing open and honest communications, continuous feedback loops and recognition for a job well done as well as identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinates and participates in weekly marketing efforts such as mass emails, electronic fliers, and social media outlets.
  • Coordinates and attends trade shows, food shows, customer visits and other marketing events as required
  • Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and training of personnel as needed.
  • Manage salespersons to best develop and maintain their customer lists
  • Create and analyze sales and marketing data.
  • Identify, cultivate, and procure new business sales and marketing relationships/opportunities, locally and nationally.
  • Conduct and lead regular meetings with Sales Team and relevant departments.
  • Expand and develop greater communications with key customers.
  • Develop and publish annual sales and marketing plans for core items and core customers.
  • Gather and maintain up-to-date relevant market data.
  • Assist A/R department with collections as needed.
  • Develops and implements pricing strategy.
  • Inventory Management.
  • Review Trouble Tickets and work to minimize adjustments.
  • Manage the Transportation Department to optimize customer service and secure coverage for new and existing lanes.
  • Develop and implement criteria/metrics to monitor performance of Sales Team as well as performance goals.
  • Perform Sales employee reviews.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years of sales management experience in the fresh produce industry.
  • 4 year college degree
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent oral communication, written communication, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with and lead a team; flexible to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Famous software a plus.
  • Analytic and numeric ability
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Drive and ambition
  • Bilingual/Spanish a plus.
