Enza Zaden in Salinas, CA is looking for a highly motivated sales professional to join our team.
What are you going to do?
As Area Sales Manager you increase the interest for our products and contribute to the promotion of Enza Zaden. You attend strategic agricultural tradeshows representing the organization in the territory but also participate in field days and related events. Your aim is to achieve agreed upon stretch sales goals annually. Therefore, you handle complaints and resolve issues with the customer service department as it relates to customer satisfaction and other related activities in support of the team efforts like marketing contributions.
You will have a team of Sales Representatives and Product Specialists report to you, as their manager you are responsible for managing, coaching and motivating your team. You will establish annual goals for each of your direct reports, conduct performance appraisal and counseling to achieve optimum performance levels. You remain up to date about the developments on market, product portfolio, pricing, sales, distribution, marketing, competition and observed trends in the market.
As Area Sales Manager you have a good understanding how the industry works and want to be part of a growing company. You are well spoken, driven and want to serve our customers efficiently. As Area Sales Manager you determine an effective approach per customer and keep up to date market data on customers.
You are a dynamic person who takes initiative, recognizes opportunities and has a creative, analytical and systematic method of working. You are a natural communicator and connector. You have strong skills in planning and organization, influencing / persuading and you must have strong management skills. You can work independently, but you are also able to work in a cross-functional teams and intercultural project teams.
In short, you:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Agriculture or Horticulture.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent sales skills (gains trust, establishes a business objective, identifies customer needs, explores solutions, develops action plans, and overcomes objections through negotiation).
- Professional, assertive and clear communication skills (verbal and written).
- Frequent travel nationally, as well as occasionally internationally (30-50% of the working time).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Enza Zaden is a vegetable breeding company that develops vegetable varieties. We produce and sell the seeds of these varieties all over the world. Both for conventional and organic growers. In order to explain this properly (and as briefly as possible) we have made an animation.
